While we lived in Wisconsin, friends bestowed these wise words as they began planning their annual spring break trips: get out of Wisconsin. Go somewhere else, preferably warm. So after the pandemic delayed our first attempt at a tropical destination, we finally made our way to the calm beaches and idyllic weather of Punta Cana. The brand-new Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana welcomed us with gorgeous views and frozen beverages aplenty.

And although I was on vacation, it never feels like work to bring along my beloved medium format film camera. I’m thrilled to have these images that paint what a truly restful and joyful time we had together – days spent by the pool, reading, sipping, and just enjoying the sun’s rays after a long winter.
